Grand Canyon University The College of Education 10 courses 30 total credits

About This Program

(Advanced Program for Continuing Professional Education) This program does not include a student teaching component, and does not therefore lead to licensure, but may lead to career advancement for those already licensed as teachers. The Master of Education in Educational Leadership (APCPE) program is designed for individuals interested in educational leadership or administration in the PK-12 and social services settings for children, but who must postpone a school site-based administrative internship or do not choose to seek a K-12 principal's license. The National Education Leadership Preparation Program Recognition Standards (NELP) and the Professional Standards for Educational Leaders (PSEL) standards form the foundation of this program of study. Courses are taught by expert practitioners in their respective fields who share knowledge and experience in the areas of school and business leadership, administrative foundations, organizational theory and culture, PK-12 legal issues, public school finance, curriculum development, and instructional and team leadership. The program includes an action research project culminating in a capstone with a 30 hour practicum requirement. Graduates of the program are prepared to become educational leaders at home, church, or private schools, or other settings not requiring a principal's license. To be admitted into this program, two years of teaching experience is strongly recommended.
