About This Program

Grand Canyon University's Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering has been developed with industry guidance to address the broad, foundational knowledge and skills required to meet or exceed the expectations of employers in civil engineering and related fields. This program addresses the planning, design, construction, operations, maintenance, and forensics of natural, private, and public works and infrastructure, including transportation (i.e., roads, railways, and airports), geotechnical, hydrology, hydraulics, water resources (i.e., rivers, dams, canals, pipes, and treatment systems), and structures (i.e., walls, bridges, buildings, and parks). The program focuses on the application of math and science in the broad technical and management areas of civil engineering, as well as other related areas, with an emphasis on analytical thinking, creativity, adaptability, problem solving, pragmatic application, and practical project management experience. The Christian worldview is also integrated into several courses, preparing graduates to apply Christian principles of stewardship, mission, and discipline, making a commitment to professional and ethical standards with a focus on environmental sustainability and social equality. Civil engineering graduates enter the workforce well versed and prepared to start work directly in the civil engineering profession, or in areas that desire those with civil engineering degrees as an entry-level requirement.
