Grand Canyon University The College of Nursing and Health Care Professions 13 courses 60 total credits
The Associate of Science in Pre-Nursing degree at Grand Canyon University is designed for students who intend to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and ultimately enter the field of professional nursing. This transfer-focused program provides the foundational coursework in biological, physical, and behavioral sciences required for entry into upper-division nursing programs. Students will engage in rigorous academic preparation that includes key pre-nursing courses such as human anatomy and physiology, microbiology, chemistry, and developmental psychology, alongside general education coursework that fosters critical thinking, communication skills, and ethical reasoning. While this degree does not lead to licensure as a registered nurse (RN), it equips students with the essential academic qualifications needed to apply to a prelicensure BSN program or other accredited nursing program. The AS in Pre-Nursing encourages students to view the practice of nursing as a form of servant leadership; an opportunity to reflect compassion through clinical excellence, cultural humility, and ethical integrity. Graduates of this program are well-positioned to transition seamlessly into a BSN pathway with a strong academic foundation, a heart for service, and a commitment to whole- person care.
